South Placer County is a wonderful area for families with plenty of space to play in the outdoors. But what do you do with the kids once the rainy months come along? Luckily there are still many places to take your children in our area where you can enjoy spending time with them, where they can interact with other kids, and where you can meet other moms even when it’s wet outside. However, unless you’re a long time resident or on your fourth child, you might not have a long list of places to go during the winter months that are entertaining for all of you. So before your restless little ones start taking sharpies to the walls, take a look at these suggestions that have worked for me and lots of other moms who could use a day out of the house with our favorite tiny people.
Wacky Tacky
When the kids get sick of being cooped up in the house, swing by Wacky Tacky and let them loose for a few hours. It’s pretty much a guarantee you’ll bring home exhausted kids! Massive play structures fill the building, with plenty of crawl spaces, ball pits, and slides to keep them going and going. There is cafe style seating for the grown ups, which is a great place to make use of the free WiFi. You can also join your kids in the playspace and use foam ball launchers to have shoot outs together (our favorite). This is a perfect rainy day place to go where kids (and parents) can still be kids indoors!

Sky Zone
Sky Zone isn’t just one of those places where you just sit back and watch your kids play – it’s also fun for the grown up kids! If you haven’t tried this indoor trampoline park, it’s time to bring your children and check it out. Not only are the kids guaranteed to love it, but it’s a great time that you can enjoy together. It’s also a great workout! They even have exercise classes there, as well as dodgeball, basketball, evening events, and toddler times. If your children range in ages from tots to teens, you know you’ll be able to make everyone happy here.

BusyKidz
BusyKidz is such an adorable place with a great concept! It is designed as a ‘little town for little people’ – a child size city for your little ones to discover complete with theme buildings like the school room, doctor’s clinic, restaurant, post office, bank, house, grocery store, costume boutique, and library, all stocked inside with everything your kids need to enjoy imaginative play for hours. It’s basically a large scale social playhouse. They also take care of the adults – they have a cafe style lounge area with comfy chairs and free WiFi so you can actually get some work done! Or just visit with friends – adult entry is free. Half off days every Wednesday!

Laser Craze
If you have school age children, you’re bound to attend a birthday party or two at this place! It’s also a great place for them to run off some energy during the winter months. Our nine year old loves the huge multi-level laser tag arena, and our four year old could spend hours in the bounce house area. You can also grab pizza and check out the arcade. This is a fun place to enjoy playing with your kids instead of just watching them – grown ups get cabin fever too!

Martha Riley Community Library
Riley Library is one of my favorite places to bring my four year old. There are plenty of activities for your kids to enjoy (for free!) – the video game and movie lounge, enclosed glass reading rooms, large comfy chairs, a cool elevator that the kids always love, and free WiFi. There is an adorable realistic looking tree right in the middle of the children’s reading room makes a perfect place to read together. Check out the events for kids! Mother Goose On The Loose Story Times on Thursdays from 9:30-12:30, Homework Help Mon/Tues/Wed from 3:00-5:00, and Monday Storytime at 10:30.
