It’s that time of year again – Earth Day – and if you ask anyone in Davis, they know that means it’s time to roll out the green carpet for the 2015 Whole Earth Festival.
Whole Earth is a massive three day eco-friendly event focusing on great music, amazing food, community education, and unique artists and vendors. Their mission is to inspire environmental awareness and activism, and they put together an extraordinary zero-waste festival annually in the beautiful city of Davis. The festivities are held on the main quad of the UC Davis campus, and this event is free and wonderfully family friendly.
There is something for everyone here with a wide variety of entertainment all day and evening. They will feature 45 bands and 20 dance acts (the samba dancers last year were incredible), speaker presentations, movie screenings, fire dancing, group yoga and meditation sessions, outdoor art galleries, and of course the friendly crowd populated by Davisites and visitors from all over Yolo and Placer Counties.
You can indulge at a massage booth, wander through art installations, peruse the jewelry and clothes vendors, grab some Thai food, let your kids enjoy the play area, or just relax and people watch while you get your henna tattoo. My favorite booth every year and a highlight of the weekend is always stopping by Itay Neta’s tent, the acupuncturist that has brought the city The Davis Community Acupuncture Clinic. He’s a great guy with an amazing talent and you’ll find him conveniently located right on the grassy quad during the festival.
