This gem is one of my very favorite lunch and breakfast places! The food and service there are always consistently wonderful. The salad and sandwich combos are an easy delicious lunch–try the tuna melt or the French dip and the house salad with the best dill dressing I’ve ever had. And they know breakfast too! The man-cakes (pancakes filled with bacon and sausage) are always popular, and so is the California Benedict. Plus, they make their own bacon! This is one of those restaurants you can keep in high rotation and never get sick of.

Brookfields Roseville
This is a go-to spot for lunch and breakfast. All of their food is very good and consistent. Breakfast is always busy and the service is great. I have seen some of these people there for years. Their French Dip is the best and well loved by their customers. Many of their items are homemade, including their biscuits which are a favorite of mine. Free wifi available, making it a great place to have a mocha and homemade scone while you work.

Claim Jumper
Perfect family celebration restaurant–a birthday dinner staple. There’s really nothing I don’t like about this place! The food is very good and you definitely have enough for leftovers, to say the least; the atmosphere is nice and the booths are huge and private, and the servers are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The bar area is great and a perfect choice for happy hour. I like to go for an early dinner, when it’s not crowded yet–plus the entrees are on special before 5:30pm. If you haven’t been there before, try the pork ribs and corn bread!

Jack’s Urban Eats
Jack’s is a great healthy place to eat. Create one of a kind salads with your choice from a large variety of fresh ingredients, and add home style sides like mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. Carve-to-order meats are served, as well as the tri-tip sandwiches that made them famous. Locally owned delicious food quickly–highly recommended.

Dickey’s Barbeque Pit
A local favorite for barbeque! Incredible pit smoked meats, salads, great baked potatoes, awesome sandwiches and pies. If you’re looking for some comfort food, try the quarter plate with pulled pork, baked beans, and the fried okra with buttery rolls. You can pick your own sauce too, and the sides are tasty. I like this place for the family packs you can get to go–perfect picnic or park fare for the family. A couple treats to tell you about–kids eat free on Sunday (yes, and actual weekend day!), and there is a free soft serve ice cream machine in the dining room to help yourself to.

Yardhouse
Inspired by the yard of beer originally served in a yard sized glass so it could reach the driver of horse drawn carriages, this is the place for a nice cold tall (very) beer and great food to go with it. They brew their own beer on site and have many others available. I’ve always been impressed with the quality of the food here, and the menu has good variety and originality. The surf and turf burger with truffle fries is a favorite, as is the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. Happy hour is very social with a good atmosphere, and a great time to go since it does get very busy during dinnertime. It runs Mon-Fri 3-6pm and Sun-Wed 10pm-close.

Tahoe Joe’s
This is a fun, welcoming place to enjoy American comfort food. They make a mean slow-smoked steak and the baked potatoes are served with a buffet of toppings. Try the calamari steak appetizer, it’s the best in town. Happy hour offers deals 11-6pm and 9pm-close daily, and all day on Sunday!
